Gulf University organizes annual career fair in order to provide its students with best available opportunities to join the workplace. The annual career fair explores opportunity to our students and alumni to gain insight into range of career opportunities, information about expectations of the employers and provides first-hand opportunity to engage directly with prospective employers.
Normally, career fair used to take place in the university where companies from private and public companies around Bahrain put up their stalls, shared career opportunities in the respective companies and students used to interact with the prospective employers. So far, Gulf University had organized 14 career fairs and last year around 53 companies from all the different commercial sectors in Bahrain participated in the event in university campus.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, without compromising with the health and safety of the citizens, university management has decided that the career fair for this academic year will be conducted as a virtual event. In its endeavour to prepare 21st century work ready graduates; GU believes that student’s education and career aspirations are supported and not affected by the current extraordinary circumstances. Therefore, 15th career fair will be unique in the sense that it will be organized on a virtual platform and provide very good opportunities to our students to become aware of the potential job opportunities and meet the employers online even in this scenario.
The 15th career fair will be organized in two stages:
In the first stage the University will create a webpage for the career fair in which the participant companies will be displaying with their logo, profile and images as well as the job opportunities. This webpage will be accessed by GU students and alumni. From this webpage, the students can apply for the vacancies offered by the participant companies. The second stage will be conducted via Microsoft teams where interview sessions will be managed by the company representatives with the students who are interested in the vacancies of the company. Each company will be added to GU Microsoft teams and will be invited to conduct the online session from 12:00pm till 4:00pm.
This is how the virtual career has been planned to provide unique experience to GU students and alumni to explore career opportunities and door to have a communication with the potential employers.
